Melton Borough Council is the local Planning Authority and they have full powers when considering planning applications.
Kirby Bellars Parish Council does not make any planning decisions - all decisions are made by Melton Borough. The Parish Council do get an opportunity to make comments on any planning applications within the parish. Any comments made by the Parish Council are considered by the Planning Committee at Melton BC but they are free to disregard or take on board the parish council's comments as they see fit.
If members of the public have a concern about a planning application they should raise it with one of the parish councillors or the clerk so that the parish council is aware of their concerns AND most importantly they should submit their comments to Melton BC before the deadline for an application to be considered.
See the main Planning page for latest applications.
